Hot Coffee (The Hollens)

Chapter 22: Unexpected

Jasmine's POV

I signed the permission papers with shivering hands. I couldn't even hold the pen steady enough to sign my name properly. I handed the documents back to Dr. Shannon after reading them carefully and signing my name on the dotted line. I raked my fingers through my hair and covered my face with the palm of my hands as I sobbed quietly into them.

"You don't want to spend time with your mother?" Dr. Shannon asked me when I was about to leave the room.

"No. How could I? I'm on the verge of losing her. I'm on the verge of losing the one person who's been there for my sister and I through everything-- through every phase of our miserable lives. Through all the first time experiences, through everything. I'm losing all of that. It's just unfair. It just seems so unfair," I cried and the tears came once again.

Dr. Shannon remained silent.

"Cindy Kingman threw fruit punch all over my dress, Mommy," I cried in the arms of my mother.

It was my sophomore year in high school. The school was hosting a dance for all the new sophomores. Jerry Fisher, a very popular boy, had asked me to the dance and I quickly agreed to it. Well, who wouldn't?

Jerry Fisher was handsome, popular and the hot topic among the girls. Every girl was swooning over him, including the seniors.

I couldn't believe it when he asked me, of all people, to the dance. My world spun faster and slower at the same time. I felt like I was floating up to cloud nine. Jerry Fisher would be my date to the high school dance.

Mom and I spent hours at the mall shopping for the perfect dress for me. She was excited as well. She always loved seeing Zenia and I happy. And I was so happy.

Jerry Fisher is my date to the high school dance. Unbelievable.

I was at my locker when he stopped by with his group of friends.

"Hi Jasmine," he greeted, leaning next to me and staring into my eyes, which fell on him immediately.

I couldn't understand why he was even talking to me. I was a nerd. Books were bae. I had no real friends.

"Hi, Jerry," I managed to greet back without falling over on my face or fainting.copy right hot novel pub
