Hot Coffee (The Hollens)

Chapter 33: Muffins

Jasmine's POV

"How was your trip?" Zenia asked as soon as I came through the door.

It had been a few weeks since my trip with Evan to the Bahamas. Once we got back he jumped right back into work. The day we got back he had a meeting to attend and had one of his personal drivers take me home.

With my work schedule, and Zenia's new work schedule, I hadn't had time to relay anything to her. We were always crossing paths but had not real time to talk.

"It was lovely," I answered, my mind reminiscing back to the heated sex I had with my boss. My body placed close to his. His tongue traveling to the sensitive part of my neck and my skin raising with goosebumps. He was quite the accomplished lover.

"You know you're smiling, right?" Zenia said, folding her arms as she smirked.

"Where's Mom?" I asked, changing the subject.

"Mom found a job."

"WHAT?!"

"Mom... found... a... job," she repeated slower.

"Where?"

"At a restaurant. She'll be one of their cleaners... or chef... or something."

I raked my fingers through my hair. Placing my suitcase against the wall, I sat down on the couch. I knew my mother. She was so headstrong and independent. She hated relying on anyone. She needed to be home resting, but there was no way she was going to take the full three months the doctor told her to take. She was too used to doing for herself-- and me and Zenia.

When Dad left us without a word, it affected her, but Mom bounced back as if he wasn't there from the very beginning. She took the role of fatherhood and motherhood into her hands and she delivered everything to the best of her ability.

"Okay," I answered.

"Yeah. I know you tried to change the subject though, but it's not that easy with me.copy right hot novel pub
